Please
note that the Black & Tan Association voted to go back to award
trophies for King & Queen of Hunt/Show winners at Sectional events
for 2012. We are still trying to hold down the fees for teh host clubs by
going to a different type of trophy. The new fee will be $150.00 to host a
sectional in 2012.
Applying
for a Sectional
1. To
apply, contact the Executive Vice President of the Association
2. The
Executive Vice President will provide an application, or an application may
be downloaded from the link at the bottom of this page. The
application must be completely filled out and post marked no later than Feb
1st of the year the sectional is to be held. For clubs wishing to
hold a hunt during the months of Jan., Feb., or Mar., send application no
later than 120 days prior to event.
3. All
sectionals must include one show and one hunt. Two night sectionals,
scheduled for Friday and Saturday of the same weekend will be given
preference but single day events will be allowed at the discretion of the
Executive Vice President. Sectionals must be at least 100 miles apart.
4. All
sectionals must be approved by the Executive Vice President. One sectional
per club per calendar year. The Executive Vice President will send the club
a letter confirming the approval of the sectional.
5. The
current fee of $150.00 MUST ACCOMPANY the application. This fee partially
defrays the cost of awards. If the application is denied, the club’s
check will be refunded. Checks or money orders must be made out to the
TREASURER
AMERICAN BLACK AND TAN COONHOUND ASSOCIATION. DO NOT SEND CASH.
Prior
to the Approved Sectionals
1. The
sectional is being sponsored by the American Black and Tan Coonhound Association
and is being hosted by the club.
2. The
registered dog owner must be a paid up member of the Association.
Membership will be accepted at the event prior to entry deadline.
3. The
Executive Vice President will send the host club forms for reporting
results and the membership secretary will send forms for recording
memberships at your sectional.
4. The
trophy company will ship four Association plaques direct to the liaison
person designated by the host club.
At
The Sectional
1. Post
the following Association Policies:
Dogs
placing in the event must be UKC registered to qualify for the American
Black and Tan Trophy and the registered owner must be a current member
of the American Black and Tan Coonhound Association.
2. The
host club must furnish personnel to accept membership in the American Black
and Tan Coonhound Association.
Awarding
the Trophies
1. The
American Black and Tan Coonhound Association will furnish trophies for
the High scoring Male and High scoring Female Black and Tan of the
hunt and the Best of Show Male and Best of Show Female Black and Tan
of the
Show.

2. These
four trophies must be awarded according to policies of the
Association.
3. It is
the responsibility of the club to verify that the registered owner of the
Black and Tan is a current member of the Association before awarding the
Association trophy.
4. In
the show, the Best of Show Black and Tan Male and Female are selected from
the Best of Breed Male and Female, Black and Tan Champion Male and Female
and Black and Tan Grand Champion Male and Female.
5.
Should it happen that only one dog is competing for Best Overall Black and
Tan Male or Female of the show, the trophy will be awarded as long as the
registered owner is a current member of the American Black and Tan Coonhound
Association.
6. The
judge of the UKC registered bench show and only the judge shall determine
the King and Queen of Show.
7. In
a two night hunt, the scores will NOT be combined to determine the high
scoring Black and Tan Male or Female.
8. In
the hunt, High scoring Black and Tan Male and Female trophies will be
presented to the high scoring Black and Tan Male and Female CAST WINNERS
WITH PLUS POINTS. If no cast winners
then to the Black and Tan non-cast winners with the most plus points.
If no Black and Tan male or female has plus points, trophies will be
awarded to the male and/or female with the least amount of minus points.
Use the UKC tie-breaking policy for awarding the King and/or Queen of Hunt
if no Black & Tan has plus or minus points.
9. If no
Black and Tan qualifies for the awards, they become property of the host
club.
10. Photos
must be taken of every Black and Tan winning any part of the hunt and show.
These pictures must be of quality that will reproduce satisfactorily in our
breed album. It is required the photographs be taken in a well
lighted area and developed commercially. You may use a digital camera but
all pictures must be commercially processed.
11. All
photographs must be identified as to the person, hound and award won. No
Polaroid Type Photographs will be accepted. They do not reproduce for
our album.
At
the Completion of the Sectional
1. Send
to the Executive Vice President:
a. Sectional
reports must be mailed on the Monday following the event.
b.
Photos may be mailed later but in no case should they be sent later than
thirty days following the event.
2. In
the event of late reports and/or photographs, there will be a $20.00 fee
and your club may not be considered for hosting a sectional the
following year.
3.
Monies for all Association memberships sold and forms for recording those
memberships are to be sentaccording to instructions provided separately by
the MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY.
