Established 2003
American Black and Tan Coonhound Association
Youth Program
At Black and Tan Days the American Black and Tan Coonhound Association will
be sponsor a youth program. The purpose of this program is to encourage youth
to participate in the sport of pleasure hunting and bench showing.
Youth may hunt or show any breed of U.K.C. coonhound.
On Thursday night we will have a youth hunt made up of youth between the ages
of 8 and 17. There will be two age groups 8 - 12 and 13-17. They will compete
under the Nite Honor Rules for registered dogs. An adult monitor will accompany
each cast. The monitor’s duties will be to transport the cast to the woods
and to participate in the settling of questions during the hunt. Each participant
will be allowed to have one spectator. The cast member may ride with his spectator.
All youth interested should contact Dick Cannode (419-675-2256) dcannode@bright.net.
We are also looking for adults who might like to help with this youth hunt serving
as monitors.
We are also encouraging youth to participate in the youth bench show held on
Saturday. There are three age classes in youth show, 7 and under, 8-12, and
13-17. Each person showing above the age of 7 must be able to lead their dog
and bench their dog without assistance from an adult.
Youth participating in these events will be considered for the American Black
and Tan Coonhound Association's U.K.C.’s Horizon Award nominee.
There is no charge for any youth programs
